[iF] was formed as a result of three young professionals relocating to the Ithaca area in the Spring of 2005. After difficulty finding professionals to socialize and network with, they quickly formed a small board of directors. [iF] intends to combat the “brain drain” effect that is hitting many upstate New York cities. This generation thrives on communities that are cutting edge and offer a significant quality of life paired with high paying jobs. With a target of the under 40 mind-set, [iF] is set to offer opportunities for Young Professionals in the Greater Ithaca area to network, mentor, socialize and otherwise learn from eachother. The intended result is to see more Young Professionals take on leadership roles in the Greater Ithaca area that will encourage them to set down roots and start families here. The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce has adopted [ithaca Forward] as a committee of the Chamber Foundation.
