Ithaca College [iF] Chair Deb has been a resident of Ithaca for over 15 years and is currently employed by Ithaca College as the Coordinator of Community Service and Leadership Development. She works as a liaison between non-profit agencies and the college to provide experiential service opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. Deb completed her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Binghamton University with a concentration in Non Profit Management. She was inducted into Phi Alpha Alpha, the national Public Administrator’s Honor Society, and completed her degree with a 4.0 GPA. She serves on a number of local boards including the Ithaca Community Fireworks Committee, the Human Services Coalition and the United Way Allocations team. She is also an '03 graduate of the Leadership Tompkins Program and returns each year to teach two sections of the Leadership Tompkins course as well as serves as an advisor for the group Community Action Projects. Recently, Deb was appointed the Vice President of Community Outreach for [ithaca Forward], a growing young professionals networking organization. She hosted “Jump on Board” – an innovative event designed to introduce local young professionals to non-profit organizations seeking board members. With over 100 people in attendance, it has been reported that over 15 matches have been made between local YP’s and NPO’s. Deb is also an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Deb’s volunteer service began when she served as the Team Captain for the first ever Ithaca College Relay for Life Team. Through her leadership, that team now raises $10,000 annually for ACS and recruits over 40 members each summer. Deb has also worked with the development of the College Relay (Cornell University and Ithaca College) which, in its second year, raised over $180,000 – she serves as the college advisor to the IC students who coordinate the event. She has also been selected to participate in this year’s Celebration on the Hill as an ACS CAN Ambassador and is the Chair of the Tompkins County Relay for Life for 2007. Deb was selected serve as this region’s representative to the National Executive Council for Relay For Life. |
